
One injured, suspect at large after shooting in Mason City
April 25, 2025 — Mason City police responded to a call shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday evening, April 24, for a reported fight with gun shots fired.
According to a press release, officers arrived at the scene near East State Street and found one male with gun shot wounds. A firearm was also found during the investigation.
A suspect fled the scene, along with an undisclosed number of witnesses. Not all parties are cooperating with the investigation. Police say the parties are known to one another, and the incident stems from an ongoing feud.
A police presence could be seen Thursday night near the Brick and Tile Building as on East State Street as well as near East Park's Cannonball train.
The victim was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636. The incident remains under investigation.
